https://ift.tt/T7F40L9 Bengals News Bengals Retain Roster Flexibility At Cutdown The Bengals went heavy at tight end with five, light on the offensive line with eight and all in on long-shot safety PJ Jules when they cut their roster Tuesday to the regular-season maximum of 53 players. Bengals’ attempt at savvy roster gymnastics backfires thanks to another AFC team’s vigilance Cincinnati’s plan to bring back a rookie defensive tackle didn’t work out. Bengals Star Ja’Marr Chase Wants One Thing to Stop Ahead of 2025 Season A fair request. Bengals should be this stud safety’s next team after surprise Patriots release The Cincinnati Bengals are determined to fend off another slow start to the regular season in 2025, and given that they missed the playoffs by one game this past year, it’s especially heartbreaking to think about what went down in Week 1 the last time around. Bengals quietly added some serious long-term upside to offensive line The  Cincinnati Benga...

Has Boston Celtics champion alum Rajon Rondo found a new career in flag football?

https://ift.tt/OuAh5Xb Champion Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo is making a name for himself in an entirely different sport than the one he won titles in with the Celtics and the Los Angeles Lakers . The University of Kentucky alum has leapt to the top of the flag football quarterback ratings in the United States by some accounts, and the footage we are seeing of Rondo on the gridiron suggest that he is indeed quite adept at tossing the ole pigskin with impressive accuracy. What should we make of the mercurial Celtics alum finding his groove in this less well-known version of the sport that dominates the US? Will he have a late florescence in this sport that further burnishes his reputation as one of the greatest minds when it comes to moving a ball where it needs to be in multiple sports? The hosts of the CLNS Media "How Bout Them Celtics!" podcast, Jack Simone and Sam LaFrance, took some time on a recent episode of their show to talk it over. Check it out below! ...

Chase Elliott gives bold take on Ryan Blaney’s 2025 NASCAR season heading into playoffs

https://ift.tt/41kwO0h Off the track, Chase Elliott and Ryan Blaney are good friends. On it, they are both embattled in a championship fight in the NASCAR Playoffs. When you look at the numbers, and if you’ve been paying attention, it won’t shock you to hear what Elliott thinks about Blaney’s 2025 season. Chase Elliott is known for flying under the radar. His mild-mannered attitude and laid-back character help him avoid controversy at times. But there is one driver who might be having a better, quieter season than Elliott. That’s last week’s winner, Ryan Blaney. Chase Elliott was asked about Blaney during Playoff Media Day by Jeff Gluck and Jordan Bianchi on The Teardown. Elliott had nothing but good things to say about his friend and on-track rival. “I think it applies for sure,” Elliott said, looking ahead at the playoff schedule . “I mean, look at Saturday night. You know, Ryan was, you know, he’s been probably the best – between him and Denny, I would say, they’ve been the ...

The Virginia Tech Hokie 2025 Season: Initial Risk Analysis

https://ift.tt/m8xczQg We start the review of the season as a matter of risk analysis and probabilities for wins. This season we’ll take the schedule as it comes instead of sorting by risk levels. The reason for the change is pretty simple; confusion. Several people commented to me that it’d be better to just do the chart in the same order of the schedule since sorting by risk level was harder to track. There will be a (Win/Loss), and an (Updated Odds) column will be added to the middle third chart to account for the inevitable corrections and updates as the season unfolds. Defining Risk Let’s go over the Risk entry parameters so that we can better understand what’s in the chart. Initial Risk – This is the risk posed by the opponent. It is based on a combination of last season’s record, current potential performance, and competition level. For the first chart, it is always a mix of gut feeling, intuition, and trusted opinion sampling. Risk to Opponent – This is the same sort o...

His massive 6’6” 285 frame sticks out even among an NFL line of scrimmage and he doesn’t wear gloves unlike most of his colleagues. He was a polarizing 2025 NFL Draft prospect coming out of Ole Miss , with most mock drafts compiled on his profile on nflmockdraftdatabase.com including him as a day 2 draft pick. Bryce Lazenby of Sporting News even mocked him to the Seahawks in the third round in February . However, athletic testing numbers from the NFL Combine and his Ole Miss pro day look...

NFL relaxes some restrictions for Tom Brady as a broadcaster/team owner

https://ift.tt/wxIi1Cg Former NFL quarterback Tom Brady makes an appearance on the field before a game between the Saints and Buccaneers last season.  (Peter Joneleit / Associated Press) Tom Brady will have fewer NFL-imposed restrictions on him this season as he enters his second year as an analyst on games broadcast on Fox. The restrictions were placed on the legendary quarterback last August when his purchase of a 10% stake in the Las Vegas Raiders was pending approval from the league owners. Brady's minority stake was approved in October. One of the so-called Brady Rules enacted by the NFL prohibited the rookie broadcaster from attending production meetings during which the Fox crew meets with coaches and players ahead of that week's game. The road to first one as a broadcaster has been challenging That retriction has been lifted, NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy confirmed to The Times on Wednesday morning. There is one...

Center Jake Renfro had missed the end of fall camp with a lower leg injury that he suffered. Wisconsin considered him week-to-week, and Fickell revealed that the starting center will play this week after joining the team over the last few practices. However, on the flip side, tight end Tucker Ashcraft has been ruled out for Week 1, and it’s unclear when his return will be. “Tucker will not make it [out there for Week 1],” Fickell said Monday. “I don’t know officially know how long he’ll be out for. Jake should be good. He’s practiced, I think the last four or five days. So he looks good and looks healthy. So I feel like we’re in a good place th...

What a Sport: 4 Ridiculous College Football Stories

https://ift.tt/9c7HCbE The college football season has arrived by preparing us with a Week 0 appetizer. Before Kansas State and Iowa State took the field in a soggy stadium, there were a few stories worth sharing that could only happen in college football. College Football Invades Ireland Starting a college football season in Ireland doesn’t feel quite right. However, it’s not going to stop fans from making the trek across the pond to see the sights around the Emerald Isle before watching their favorite team in action. I don’t have to tell you that Ireland has a rich history of pubs, particularly around Dublin. Whenever they host American sports teams, the pubs get decked out to welcome the fans. This year, somebody misunderstood the assignment. I’m pretty positive that a couple locations in Dublin typed in “Kansas State Flag” and got the literal state’s flag. https://ift.tt/nd8aJMU When Justice Finkley arrived at Kansas after transferring from Texas, his goal was to go 1-0 in all aspects. Finkley wanted to rack up wins nutritionally, on the field, in the weight room, and as a leader. However, he didn’t expect to hear the news after practice on Monday that the coaches had named him one of the Jayhawks’ captains . Finkley will serve as one of Kansas’ captains on a weekly basis alongside Jalon Daniels and Bryce Foster, and Lance Leipold said the fourth spot will rotate throughout the year. The defensive end made leaps and bounds in his leadership since his arrival, seeing his work paid off with the captain nod. “It means a lot, just knowing that my teammates kind of hold me in that light and see me that way,” Finkley said. “Coming in here in January, I thought I would never be able to display the actual, you know, qualities of a leader. But in a previous interview, I said that I was able to, you know, focus on being more of a vocal leader ...

Derrick Moore credits past Michigan leaders for his growth, becoming team captain: ‘I owe them to do it for the younger guys’

https://ift.tt/gALZrvn Michigan Wolverines football senior EDGE Derrick Moore received significant playing time as a freshman in 2022, was a strong rotational player as a sophomore in 2023 and became a starter in 2024. Now, he’s a captain, one of six on Michigan’s 146th football team. The 6-foot-3, 260-pound Baltimore native chuckled when he was asked if the younger version of himself envisioned becoming a captain one day. “That’s something I had to grow into,” Moore said. “Especially being around the leaders that we had in previous years, and just seeing them and how dialed into the Michigan program they were, I was like, ‘Man, I don’t know if I’m ever gonna fill those shoes,’ for the guys — just the way they talk, the way they carry themselves and the way they go out on the field and perform.” But Moore did grow into it, due part to the examples he had before him, including defensive back Mike Sainristil , defensive tackle Mazi Smith , linebacker Michael Barrett , defensive...
