Atletico Madrid concern as Gimenez suffers fresh injury setback originally appeared on The Sporting News

Atletico Madrid's poor start to the season has become a concern for Atleti fans. Atletico Madrid are on one point after two La Liga games under Diego Simeone, despite new players playing their first games in the league.

One of the players that Atletico Madrid count on is Uruguayan defender Jose Maria Gimenez. The defender has been out since June with a muscle injury that has kept him out for the preseason and the start of the new La Liga season.

His last game was against Seattle Sounders in the FIFA Club World Cup this summer. Gimenez was expected to play one of the first league games with Atleti, but new reports suggest his return will be delayed again.

Diario AS reports that Gimenez will be out for another month as he has suffered a setback in his recovery. He participated in the team training session before the match against Elche, but he felt pain in his calf.

Despite his absence, Atleti fans are impressed with their new defender David Hancko, who joined from Feyenoord

The centerback duo for Atleti in the first two league games is David Hancko and Robin Le Normand. The fullbacks were Matteo Ruggeri and Marcos Llorente for the games against Espanyol and Elche.

Atletico Madrid lost 2-1 to Espanyol after taking the lead through a Julian Alvarez free kick. Their first home game of the season was a 1-1 draw against Elche.

Atleti once again took the lead thanks to a goal from Alexander Sorloth. Elche found the equalizer in the 15th minute, courtesy of Rafa Mir.

Eagles coach calls out star player for being out of shape: ‘Both he and I have talked about that’

https://ift.tt/5x1sACw PHILADELPHIA — Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter is still not in his best form yet. After getting ejected before the first snap in Week 1 for spitting on Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott , Carter made his season debut in Philadelphia’s Week 2 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday at Arrowhead Stadium. As one of the best defensive tackles in the NFL, Carter is expected to take over games, but that didn’t happen against the Chiefs. “He had some good rushes, but he needs to round into better shape,” Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio said on Tuesday. “Both he and I have talked about that. He readily admits that. I think we’ll even get more (out of him). For everything that has gone on in his world, I thought he played pretty good.” Carter amassed two tackles and three quarterback hits, while playing 80% of the snaps. He has the talent to be more productive. Last year, Carter became an unstoppable force after ...

Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane ready to take on English rivals in Champions League

https://ift.tt/SwpIz0O Bayern Munich star Harry Kane cannot wait to hit the grass at the Allianz Arena to face off with Chelsea FC in the Champions League. “We back ourselves to beat any team at the Allianz Arena. It’s up to you [journalists] and fans to decide who are the favourites. We’re feeling very good right now. If we want to beat Chelsea, we have to perform at our peak. It will be a tough and great game. Chelsea did very well at the Club World Cup and right now in the Premier League,“ said Kane (as captured by @iMiaSanMia ). When asked about the statement made by Uli Hoeneß, Kane respectfully disagreed. “A club like Bayern always expects to win every competition. I wouldn’t say we’re underdogs, even though we’re playing against the best teams in Europe. Now begins a long journey, hopefully until May. I don’t want to look too far ahead. We want to be as high as possible in the league phase table. It all starts tomorrow,” Kane said. Harkening back to last season’s Champions...
