Tennessee's defense 'had a really good day' in second spring scrimmage

https://ift.tt/xaP1Uh6 Tennessee held its second spring football scrimmage Monday at Neyland Stadium. The Vols' first-team defense set an early tone in the scrimmage. "The defense, one defense in particular, I thought had a really good day, started really fast," Tennessee head coach Josh Heupel said. Heupel also mentioned Tennessee's offense will need to clean up areas of execution. "Offensively, there's some execution that we have to clean up," he said. "That's guys that are skill players out on the perimeter. It was some of our protection stuff, too. All in all, there are some things that we have to do at a better level today." Tennessee will hold its final padded spring practice on Wednesday. The Vols will conclude spring practices with their annual Orange & White Game on Saturday at Neyland Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. EDT. "For us, it is the third opportunity to play football in a gameday-like situation,...

'I just genuinely believe we have fallen short' - Stephens

https://ift.tt/wFY0zLl [Getty Images] Southampton captain Jack Stephens says the club's relegation from the Premier League is "humiliating", with Ivan Juric's side still rooted to the bottom of the table on 10 points after a 3-1 loss to Tottenham . Speaking to BBC Radio Solent after the game, Stephens said: "It's obviously still fresh, but this season has been a massive disappointment. We are really disappointed in the dressing room. The lads are obviously really down. We are just gutted that we couldn't give the fans what they deserve, not only today but also this season as a whole." On what he would say to the club's supporters about this season: "First thing's first, we have to look at ourselves. That is what we will do and what we have spoken about already. We have to look in the mirror and ask ourselves whether we did everything we could and whether we have been good enough. "Ultimately, the answer to the second questi...

Brad Tavares proud to tie Michael Bisping's win record at UFC on ESPN 65

https://ift.tt/PUwufSV LAS VEGAS – UFC middleweight veteran Brad Tavares has caught up to Hall of Famer Michael Bisping in the record books. On the main card of UFC on ESPN 65 at the UFC Apex, Tavares (21-10 MMA, 16-10 UFC) ended a two-fight skid with a unanimous decision win over Gerald Meerschaert. It was a significant result for Tavares, who proved doubters wrong while also making history . "I think for one, it ties me for the most wins in UFC middleweight history," Tavares told MMA Junkie and other reporters at a post-fight news conference. "Two, I think it just shows the rest of the division that if anyone thought I was on my way out, or whatever they were thinking, that I'm still here, I'm still learning, I'm still growing. "I feel like I still have room, as crazy as it is, I've been in it 20-plus fights, 15 years, and I still feel like I have that mentality that I can do more, I can do better. I can still evolve. There's a lot more t...

Arsenal held by Everton, Villa boost Euro bid

https://ift.tt/rKV8INv Arsenal were held to a draw at Everton as their title hopes fade (ANDY BUCHANAN) Arsenal's faint hopes of catching Premier League leaders Liverpool are almost over after their 1-1 draw at Everton, while Aston Villa bolstered their bid for Champions League qualification with a 2-1 win against Nottingham Forest on Saturday. Leandro Trossard's opener for the Gunners was cancelled out by Iliman Ndiaye's penalty to leave Arsenal trailing 11 points behind Liverpool, who travel to Fulham on Sunday. Liverpool need just 11 points from their remaining eight games to secure a record-equalling 20th English top-flight title and first since 2020. With just two wins in their last six league matches, Arsenal have tamely surrendered in the title race and are destined to go another year without their first English crown since 2004. Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta had said the best preparation for his side's Champions League quarter-final first leg against Real Ma...

Ohio State Buckeyes: Lakota East grad turning heads this spring

https://ift.tt/V5D2KWm Apr. 4—COLUMBUS — Austin Siereveld started seven games, including the Rose Bowl and the National Championship, on the Ohio State offensive line last season. How might he help the Buckeyes this season as they reassemble the offense without most of its major players? "I think my role is any role," said Siereveld, who is entering his third year in Columbus. "I'm going to find a place to play, wherever it is — left, right, inside, outside. I feel like they're going to find a place for me to play, and I'm just trying to get better as a football player and as a human being." Siereveld is enjoying a big offseason. Prior to the start of spring practice last month, he was named one of three "Iron Buckeyes" (along with receiver Jeremiah Smith and linebacker Sonny Styles) signifying the top performers in winter workouts. "I was a little surprised," Siereveld said. "I kind of had a feeling. I kind of could have g...

Unfortunately for the Brazilian, though, as he brought as much to a close, a member of the public took advantage of the opportunity to steal a watch from his wrist. As per MD: ‘As he was leaving a parking lot on Passeig de Gràcia, he was the victim of a sudden robbery. As he was collecting his ticket to leave the parking lot, a man approached him from behind and snatched his watch in a matter of seconds, leaving him unable to react.’ The former Barcelona star, thankfully, did not suffer any form of injury during the inciden...
