Jason Richardson sees ‘great fit’ for son Jase with Magic

https://ift.tt/e6qTKYE The last time Jason Richardson faced off against his son, Jase , in a game of 1-on-1 basketball, the younger Richardson was 16-years-old. He outmaneuvered his father on the court and they haven’t played since. Now 19, Jase has continued to follow his dad’s footstep by attending the same Big Ten school as the older Richardson and getting selected in the first round of the NBA draft by the same team his father played for — the Magic . “It’s weird and crazy at the same time,” Jason Richardson said recently. “I thought he was going to Alabama. He chose Michigan State. To get drafted to one of the teams I played for is a really eerie feeling, but it’s still surreal and it’s just amazing he gets to be a part of a franchise like this.” Jason Richardson spent 13 years in the league and played over 100 games in Orlando across two seasons (2010-12). He has memories of his son, who was around 6 or 7 years old at the time, running around Stuff’s Magic Castle, an ind...

https://ift.tt/e6qTKYE Mavericks Expected To Make $12 Million Decision on PG As Free Agency Nears originally appeared on Athlon Sports . NBA free agency officially begins at 6 p.m. ET on June 30. Many teams are getting a head start with their current roster this week by re-structuring contracts to assemble their funds for when Monday evening's doors open. The Dallas Mavericks are one of those teams, and many expect them to be buyers within the first hour of free agency. To prepare for this, Dallas has agreed to terms on new contracts for two integral pieces of their NBA Finals run from just over a year ago: center Daniel Gafford and point guard Kyrie Irving. Gafford has reportedly agreed to sign a three-year, $54 million contract to stay with the Mavs. Irving, as he recovers from a devastating torn ACL suffered in March, has opted out of his player option and is expected to sign a three-year, $119 million extension. The Irving moves unlock Dallas with the taxpayer midlevel e...

Duncan Robinson exercises option to terminate contract with Heat, though he could return to Miami

https://ift.tt/3JGDxLH MIAMI (AP) — Duncan Robinson opted for unrestricted free agency on Sunday, exercising his early termination option for what would have been the final year of his contract with the Miami Heat. The decision doesn't mean he cannot return to the Heat. Robinson — the franchise's all-time leader in 3-pointers made — could have let his option pass Sunday and then been guaranteed $9.9 million of what was a nearly $20 million deal for this coming season. He could now negotiate a new deal with the Heat, agree to be part of a sign-and-trade for another player, or simply sign with a new club. Free agency in the NBA officially begins Monday evening; Robinson had until Sunday to decide on his termination option. The 31-year-old Robinson is a success story like few others in the NBA. He started his college career at Division III Williams, then played his way to Michigan, went undrafted and was given a chance by the Heat. From there, Robinson became a key part of th...

Julius Randle, Minnesota Timberwolves reportedly agree to three-year, $100 million contract

https://ift.tt/3JGDxLH Days after locking up big man Naz Reid with a contract extension , the Minnesota Timberwolves reportedly have done the same with Julius Randle. The Timberwolves and Randle have agreed to a three-year, $100 million new contract, reports Shams Charania of ESPN . The third year is a player option. Randle is opting out of the $30.9 million he is owed for next season to sign this new deal (which is why this is not an extension), which keeps him at about the same pay level and with a couple more years of security. Randle came over to Minnesota in the Karl-Anthony Towns trade and there was considerable skepticism around the league about Randle's fit with his new team. While it took a while, he started playing well as a complementary player alongside Anthony Edwards and next to Rudy Gobert, taking over when matchups dictated. Randle averaged 18.7 points and 7.1 rebounds a game this past season, but more impressive was his consistently quick decision-making. When ...

Lakers Contact 6-Foot-10 Forward in Trade Report

https://ift.tt/GNqpHPc Lakers Contact 6-Foot-10 Forward in Trade Report originally appeared on Athlon Sports . The Los Angeles Lakers enter the NBA offseason with plenty of questions after a disappointing first-round playoff exit. Despite acquiring Luka Doncic in February to pair with LeBron James, the team fell to the Minnesota Timberwolves, ending the season earlier than expected. Now with James turning 40 and entering his 23rd NBA season, the Lakers know their championship window is closing. Management is reportedly determined to build a stronger roster around their aging superstar. One area that clearly needs improvement is the center position. The Lakers struggled to find consistency at that spot throughout the 2024-25 season, and their search for an upgrade continues into the summer. According to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, Los Angeles was actively pursuing help at the position and even reached out to the Atlanta Hawks about a potential trade for big man Onyeka Okongwu. “The L...

This will be her first appearance at the Championships, scheduled for June 30–July 12 in London, England. She drew a tough opening-round matchup for her Grand Slam debut—World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka. Daryl Morey singles out coach Nick Nurse in Sixers' draft process

https://ift.tt/eF2CLaK CAMDEN, N.J. -- The Philadelphia 76ers just finished up a grueling draft process as they looked at a number of players to choose from with the No. 3 overall pick. The Sixers ended up selecting Baylor star VJ Edgecombe who checks off a lot of boxes for Philadelphia. "He’s very mature for his age," President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey said on Wednesday. "For being under 20, he carries himself like he’s already been in the league which I don’t think is easy. So that’s one. Two, I think the love of his family—I think a lot of people have that, but the admiration from his brother. I think I’m just excited to get to know him. He has a great head on his shoulders, both on the court, basketball IQ-wise, but also just life IQ for lack of a better term." Edgecombe comes from humble beginnings in The Bahamas. He had to work his behind off in order to get to this position and that's what attracted him to the Sixers in the draft process. ...

https://ift.tt/TPypf8Y Carsley backs his England U21s to handle Bayern Munich target Woltemade ahead of Euros final Lee Carsley says he always had confidence that he could guide England U21s to a second successive European Championship final. After beating the Netherlands 2-1 in the semi-finals , England U21s head to their second consecutive Euros final to face Germany, who they lost 2-1 to in their final group stage game. "Words cannot express the pain of this letdown," Haliburton wrote on X (formerly Twitter) after undergoing surgery Monday to repair the tendon. "The frustration is unfathomable. I’ve worked my whole life to get to this moment and this is how it ends? Makes no sense." But for the majority of his five-paragraph post, which Haliburton accompanied with a photo of himself smiling and forming a heart with his hands from a hospital bed, the two-time All Star al...

Titans trade guard for center in 2013 PFF re-draft

https://ift.tt/ZtVjYLX In 2013, then- Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Munchak was entering his final season as the Titans' head coach. Desperate to draft well and put together a playoff-worthy team, the Titans selected offensive lineman Chance Warmack out of Alabama with the 10th overall pick. However, in PFF's latest re-draft, they suggest the Titans would have selected center Travis Frederick out of Wisconsin instead of Warmack if they had known how each player would turn out. In going through each player's history, there's no reason to believe that this wouldn't have been a better selection. Frederick's career was cut short, but the Titans could have used him at center in 2013. That year, Rob Turner began the season as the starting center but was replaced with fourth-round rookie Brian Schwenke later in the season. If the Titans had selected Frederick, he would have brought that first year of starting games to Tennessee, and the offensive line would have ...

Sundowns of South Africa took a surprise early lead but Dortmund hit back strongly to triumph in sweltering conditions in Cincinnati at the TQL Stadium and move top of Group F. "It's a really nice bonus (to score), I'm glad we won but there's a lot of things for me to improve on personally and for the team," Bellingham told DAZN. https://ift.tt/YnsTL9E Mamelodi Sundowns 3-4 Borussia Dortmund: Bellingham scores on inaugural start for the club Dortmund recovered after going 1-0 down early in the first half, stretching the deficit to 4-1, but Mamelodi Sundowns did not go down without a fight. A late goal worried Niko Kovač’s side, as they desperately tried to maintain their lead, after squandering their previous goal deficit, but they managed to hold on. Dortmund’s win took them to the top spot in Group F, surpassing the South African side, as they look set to qualify for the round of 16. Sundowns, on the other hand, will require a win against Fluminense if they want to progress to the next round. As it happened Borussia Dortmund came into today’s game on the back foot following a goalless draw against Fluminense, while their South African opponents sat at the top of Group F after their 1-0 victory against Ulsan HD on Wednesday. 5 times Brewers rookie Jacob Misiorowski turned batters into goop

https://ift.tt/SXONnQM If you're not familiar with Milwaukee Brewers rookie sensation Jacob Misiorowski, allow us to bring you up to speed. The 23-year-old pitcher from the Kansas City area is an absolute stud. He's the National League Rookie of the Year favorite (+150 at BetMGM) after just two starts and both the numbers and the eye test back up his front-runner status. In Friday's start against the Minnesota Twins , Misiorowski took a perfect game into the 7th inning before giving up a walk and a home run. It was the first hit he's allowed since reaching the big leagues and his 11 innings of no-hit ball made him the first rookie to accomplish the feat since 1900. This isn't beginner's luck, either. The righty's arsenal is absolutely filthy in the best possible way. Just look at how veteran hitters are completely falling over themselves just trying to figure out where the ball is going. Good lord Jacob Misiorowski literally sat Willi Castro down pic....

Indiana Pacers Could Take a Page from 2011 Dallas Mavericks' Playbook in NBA Finals

https://ift.tt/Wqd9VRS Indiana Pacers Could Take a Page from 2011 Dallas Mavericks' Playbook in NBA Finals originally appeared on Athlon Sports . In 2011, Jason Kidd, Dirk Nowitzki, head coach Rick Carlisle, and the Dallas Mavericks met the "Big Three" Miami Heat tandem in the NBA Finals. Nine months prior, LeBron James promised that he would win "not one, not two, not three, not four, not five, not six, not seven" titles in Miami, and the Heat were heavy favorites. Instead, the Mavericks sent them packing in six games, running home to South Beach with their tails tucked between their legs.  That 2011 ring was the crowning achievement for both Dirk and Carlisle, who is back in the Finals this year with the Indiana Pacers, who trail the Oklahoma City Thunder two games to three. In a do-or-die Game 6 on Thursday night, All-NBA point guard Tyrese Haliburton is hobbled, prompting Carlisle to possibly do what he did in 2011: give the undersized, overlooked benc...

Nurullo Aliev, Muin Gafurov and Loik Radzhabov are the other three Tajik representatives on the UFC roster. "Three years ago, four years ago, five years ago, all Tajik people, we all watch UFC," Naimov said at the UFC on ABC 8 media day. "... UFC for us, it was like something different. It was really hard to get to UFC, and in one year, four Tajik people get signed by UFC.
