Titans trade guard for center in 2013 PFF re-draft

In 2013, then-Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Munchak was entering his final season as the Titans' head coach. Desperate to draft well and put together a playoff-worthy team, the Titans selected offensive lineman Chance Warmack out of Alabama with the 10th overall pick. However, in PFF's latest re-draft, they suggest the Titans would have selected center Travis Frederick out of Wisconsin instead of Warmack if they had known how each player would turn out.

In going through each player's history, there's no reason to believe that this wouldn't have been a better selection. Frederick's career was cut short, but the Titans could have used him at center in 2013. That year, Rob Turner began the season as the starting center but was replaced with fourth-round rookie Brian Schwenke later in the season. If the Titans had selected Frederick, he would have brought that first year of starting games to Tennessee, and the offensive line would have been improved.

Warmack was supposed to be a long-term part of the Titans' offensive line, but the team switched him from the left side, where he played in college, to the right side, and the result wasn't great. They ended up declining his fifth-year option, and he departed the organization when his rookie contract expired.
