Before the start of the season, the St. Louis Blues have made some news.

Blues Extend Nathan Walker with Two-Year Deal

The Blues have locked up a familiar face for the next two seasons. On Tuesday, President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced that forward Nathan Walker has signed a two-year contract extension worth $1.775 million. The deal carries an average annual value of $887,500.

A Career Year in 2024-25

Walker, 31, made the most of his role last season, appearing in 73 regular-season games and setting a career-best with 16 points (eight goals, eight assists). Known more for his grit than his scoring, he also led the team with 63 penalty minutes and piled up 281 hits, establishing himself as one of the Blues’ hardest-working skaters.

In the playoffs, Walker rose to the occasion by scoring three goals in the first-round matchup against Winnipeg, tying for the team lead.

Longevity in St. Louis

The 2025-26 season will be Walker’s seventh year in a Blues uniform after originally signing with the club as a free agent on July 1, 2019. Over his NHL career, the Cardiff, Wales, native and Australian international has suited up in 229 regular-season games, posting 56 points (28 goals, 28 assists) and 122 penalty minutes.

A Unique Path

Walker made history as the first Australian to play in the NHL and was a member of the 2018 Stanley Cup champion Washington Capitals before joining St. Louis. His hard-nosed style and underdog story have made him a fan favorite and a valuable depth piece for the Blues.

With his new contract, Walker will continue to bring energy, toughness, and leadership to a Blues team aiming to take another step forward in 2025-26.
