A GoFundMe fundraiser has been set up to support FSU linebacker Ethan Pritchard and his family following the weekend shooting that left the freshman in intensive care.
According to family members, Pritchard was the victim of what appears to be mistaken identity and was shot while driving his aunt to her home in Havana, Fla.
The first-year Seminole has been listed in critical but stable’ condition after being shot in the head, according to his family.
The GoFundMe account was set up by head coach Karl Calhoun at Sanford Seminole High, where Pritchard starred before enrolling at Florida State in January.
“During this unimaginable time, we are asking for your support,” Calhoun posted. “All funds raised will go directly toward helping Ethan and his family with medical expenses, travel, and the many needs that arise as they navigate this heartbreaking journey. Your generosity, prayers, and love mean more than words can express.”
Florida State coach Mike Norvell has been visiting Pritchard and his family in a Tallahassee hospital and sharing updates with the Seminoles’ players each day. Norvell said the university also is making services available for any FSU players who need assistance.
“There’s a lot of emotions (among the players), and I’ve got a lot of emotions,” Norvell said on Monday. “But being able to know that there are great outlets here to support them through this. We’re grateful for all of the resources around our players.
“I’m grateful for their hearts. I mean, they love this family that we get to be a part of.”
