Machine Gun Kelly will be an important part of ESPN's College Football coverage during the 2025-2026 season, as his song, “Don’t Wait Run Fast,” will serve as the anthem. It is from his album, "Lost Americana," which will be released on Aug. 8.

And the artist joined the Pat McAfee Show on Thursday, where he was asked how it all came together.
"This song is actually, it's ironic because I made this song the day after I played the Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl party. But they didn't win," MGK explained. "We had to still play the party... You know who doesn't go to the afterparties of the team who lost? The players, girls, anybody."
And it didn't help matters that MGK was also the headliner.
"As luck would have it, I had to play like an hour set as opposed to Quavo and Shaboozey who got to play just one song and dip," he added. "So, I was up there for like an hour."

MGK also had another funny exchange with McAfee, specifically when the ESPN personality asked the singer if he would be more involved with college football since they are using his song. And while answering, he made one mistake that McAfee wouldn't let him live down.
"I was a tight end, I scored one football. I mean one–" he said, and then tried to backtrack and fix his wording.
"Let's not do that, don't do that s***," McAfee cut in. "Let's not put a microphone in front of him at any of these sporting events, Jesus."
"You hit a grand slam in that football game," he continued.
MGK finally got his chance to fix it though.
"I scored one touchdown, oh my God, I scored one football is crazy," the singer replied.
