Browns need to get Titans on the phone ASAP and take advantage of Will Levis injury news

The Cleveland Browns have more quarterbacks than they will have game day spots in 2025. However, their absurd amount of depth may finally pay off if they try to take advantage of the Tennessee Titans after the unfortunate news they received on Monday.

The Browns head into training camp with four healthy QBs — two were drafted in April — and multi-time Pro Bowler Deshaun Watson expected to return during the season. The team has put itself in a position where it will have to either cut some of those players before the regular season or make a trade with little leverage.

Well, that might have changed this week. On Monday morning, the Tennessee Titans revealed that former starting QB Will Levis will undergo season-ending surgery on his shoulder. The news puts the Titans in a very bad situation in their QB room heading into the season.

Rookie and No. 1 pick Cam Ward is expected to start immediately this season. However, behind him on the depth chart is former sixth-round pick Branden Allen and six-team journeyman Tim Boyle. It is already tough to be led by a rookie, but Tennessee has the worst backup situation in the NFL right now. But the Browns could help them fix that.

Should the Cleveland Browns look to trade Joe Flacco or Kenny Pickett to the Tennessee Titans?

As of now, Joe Flacco is the QB1 on the Browns’ depth chart. However, that spot and his time with the team are all temporary. There is no doubt that many at the team’s headquarters are hoping rookies Shedeur Sanders or Dillon Gabriel shine this summer and usurp that role from him. At this point in his career, he would be far more helpful as a backup and mentor to a young QB.

Which would make him a perfect fit for the Titans. Sure, moving him would take a mentor out of Cleveland’s QB room. But somebody has to go. And Kenny Pickett and Watson, as well as the coaching staff, will just have to fill that void. Or the team can go a different route if Tennessee prefers a player with more years ahead of him.

That would make Pickett an intriguing option for the Titans as well. There are many who feel he didn’t get a fair shake in Pittsburgh. And that he could be a sleeper to win the starting job this summer. But after drafting two QBs in the spring, Cleveland — as mentioned before — would rather Sanders or Gabriel turn into a potential franchise QB.

By landing Pickett, the Titans would go from having a rookie QB and a terrible backup situation to having a rookie with one of the better and capable relievers in the league behind him. So what could the Browns get in a potential deal?

Cleveland won’t get much, but the return could be better than expected if the Titans are desperate enough. Getting a fourth-rounder for Pickett isn’t completely impossible. And a sixth for Flacco makes sense. Either way, they could get a solid return and thin the herd in a crowded QB room.
