Broncos’ Evan Engram Has Strong Belief in Second-Year QB Bo Nix originally appeared on Athlon Sports.

Evan Engram is one of many new faces joining the Denver Broncos organization this year. Despite also being courted by the Los Angeles Chargers, an AFC West Division rival, Engram eventually put pen to paper on a $23 million contract keeping him in Denver through the 2026 season.

He revealed to reporters on Thursday that "everything about" his visit to Denver made him want to sign with the Broncos. Second-year quarterback Bo Nix, a player who Engram kept tabs on during the former Oregon signal caller's debut season, could being included within that broader "everything."

"I was always really observant of Bo Nix. It was, obviously, as a rookie, kind of a slow start last year. He was learning the game, but once he turned it on, you can see it all over the tape," Engram said. "Flying around for the [free agent] visits, [I] got to download some games on the laptop and watch some film."

After just a few weeks of being Nix's teammate, Engram expressed excitement about what is to come for Nix during his second year as a starting quarterback in the NFL.

"The potential is through the roof," Engram said.

Both players had an opportunity to build chemistry with each other before Engram signed with the Broncos, as they had a meeting during his visit as a free agent. Engram said the gesture showed how Nix strives to be a leader by getting to know his teammates on a deeper level.

"I just love the way he approaches each and every day. I love the way he builds relationships with his teammates," Engram said. "I had lunch with him on my visit here. He made it a point to be here and meet me. Even that lunch, I was able to just kind of listen to his process and things that he’s working on. [He's] just [a] really impressive young guy."

Engram's 2025 season will be his ninth as a professional, having already caught 496 passes for 4,922 yards and 25 touchdowns over the course of his entire career. With seven years' worth of experience more than Nix, Engram said he wants to play a valuable role in the quarterback's growth this year.

"I like to see myself as someone that can come in and help his development and take this team to another level," Engram said.
